This is one of the apartment decorating themes that people are least excited about: decorating an apartment for a Christmas tree. But, I can assure you, if you are lucky enough to have an apartment fully decorated for the holidays, there’s no better place to set it up than in your apartment. For starters, who wants to pay an apartment decorator to hang something on their apartment wall that they probably could have hung themselves? Also, who wants to buy an expensive Christmas ornaments only to find out it won’t fit through their apartment door? (And sometimes, apartment decorating ideas don’t work because the door is too narrow for the decorations – it’s always a good idea to double-check with the person who hooked up your apartment door.)
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about some apartment decorating ideas that work well for Xmas trees. You can of course get as creative as you want. But here are some apartment decorating themes that are definitely Xmas themed. And if you don’t want to follow the traditional Xmas theme, no problem – it’s really easy to decorate your apartment in other ways. After all, it’s supposed to be fun!
Christmas trees are obviously the most popular decorating theme for apartments because so many people use them. In fact, most apartment dwellers would be embarrassed to tell somebody they have a Christmas tree in their apartment because it’s “too intimate”. But decorating your apartment with a tree gives you the perfect opportunity to be more individualistic and artistic.
A traditional Christmas tree has plenty of room for all of the holiday goodies. So, if your apartment doesn’t have a lot of space, or if you’re afraid you’ll fill up the tree (which is a valid concern) there are other ways to utilize the limited space you have. For example, consider using small stuffed toys instead of larger ones. And don’t forget to use the extra space for decorations. This is especially important if you have an apartment with an irregular floor plan.
If your apartment has a living room attached to it, you can decorate this area similarly to how you decorated the main part of the apartment. Use Christmas ornaments or lights to light up the walls. You can also use red and green Christmas colors for the windows and the ceiling. A Christmas wreath placed nicely on the door is a nice touch.
But what if you have an apartment that doesn’t have a tree? Don’t worry – there are still many decorating themes that you can apply to your apartment that won’t take much space at all. For example, consider decorating your table with candles. Candles make great holiday decorations, even when used in smaller quantities.
For tables, you can either place long stem glasses on top of each other and place flowers on top of the table – these look great both day and night. If you want to use candles, you can put them in small vases, fill the vases with sand, or else use small tea lights that look like actual candles. These are all simple ideas that require very little space to implement.
As you can see, there are many ways to incorporate holiday decorating into your apartment decorating without having to break the bank. In fact, if you spend a bit of time doing this decorating in small spaces, you’ll actually end up saving money because you won’t have to buy a tree. So get out those Xmas cards and start decorating today! Just be sure to leave a little space at the bottom where you’ll be putting your tree…
