You may think your traditional dining room decorating is very “mainstream.” It’s not. I am a “do-it-yourself” kind of person, so when it comes to traditional dining room decorating, I do what I want. But I’m also realistic about the trends I see in home decorating, and I don’t feel as though I’m following any one trend that others are following. No matter what you believe, there are always new things being added to the style of home interior design. Let’s look at a few of the changes that are on the way.
Does your traditional dining room decor vary with the seasons? With many homeowners today, it’s more common for them to use the seasons as a way to create a theme within their traditional dining room decor. The fall and winter themes with leaves and trees make their homes very cozy and comforting. Spring is traditionally a time for new beginnings and life, so this season is a good one for those who want to take their traditional dining room decorating to a new level.
If you are like me, you have traditional dining room decor in your house, but it is dated. There are some furnishings in there that are over 30 years old! I took down the TV and some of the old tables and chairs, but I left the rest in great condition. I think my traditional dining room interior design is quite modern in style, and if I want to bring it back to its roots, I can.
As we move into spring, the colors of nature really come into play. This is when all those lovely colors come out and make their appearance in my house. The grass on the lawn, and the flowers and trees are making a strong statement together with the color of the kitchen curtains. I really love the combination of green and blue, yellow and orange, and red and purple.
Does my traditional dining room decor varies from room to room? Of course it does. Some of the places where we eat are not traditional dining rooms, but rather, they are somewhere else entirely. I have friends that live in log homes, and mine is an older home. But, no matter what country we are in or where we were raised, our table manners are still pretty much the same.
When we sit at the table, we expect likeable people to be sitting across from us, and we also expect good food. That is why it is important to choose table cloths that match the color of the wall paint, or the upholstery print on the chairs. If the seat covers are all in one shade of blue, or if the plates are all in one of bright oranges, then it will be hard to get along without any friends, family, or visitors around. It is very important that you get along your table cloths, table napkins, and any accessories, which match the color of the decor.
If we have a bar in our traditional dining room decor, then that is going to draw away some of our friends who do not drink coffee, but instead, enjoy wine, or another form of beverage. I do not mean to put the bar in the way of those who drink, but it does not look right if it is placed so close to the table. If you have a bar area, and it is not covered with a table cloth, and there is only one type of chair in the surrounding, then you may want to consider moving that chair and table to somewhere a little further away.
In conclusion, when it comes to traditional dining room decor, I realize that some of the traditional rules do not change at all. For instance, we still eat meals around the table, we drink wine and eat snacks. If we do not use candles in the home, then that will remain the same as well. However, we have come a long way in the realm of color and textures, and that should show in our home decor.
